"Back in college, I had a crush on Taylor from across the way, but honestly every girl did. He was mysterious, attractive, and unattainable because he was so clearly not preoccupied with the idea of dating anyone." hahaha I actually don't think I ever met him back then - our circles didn't overlap as much - but in hindsight can 100% see this.
The long way can, indeed, be good and kind.
(Getting married in our late twenties after our 2.5 year breakup seemed like a long, long time - but we absolutely needed it, and didn't even realize at the time it was a particular kind of preparation. Hopefully you can choose not to dwell on "lost time" as we have chosen not to, as well. Every marriage unfolds in time - and certainly continues to into the future.
Remember that photo I shared of me in a group with Philip (aka your coworker lol)? We all went to the same place for undergrad. That’s the connection! (Though Rebecca and I were really only passing acquaintances at the time, weirdly enough.)
I was starting to think you're an underground agent with secret intel on all areas of my life, lol. Small world! Becca and I did youth ministry at the same church for a short four months before the accident.
I don’t know you, but I too found my love at 34, and it took the long way to come. And now it’s been ten years of good, hard, deep, and the best. I loved reading your story. Thank you for sharing it with the world :)
Thank you so much! The long way is proving to be very good. You’ve been an encouragement to me through many single years, and I appreciate your encouragement now too :)
I am just getting to this, haven't read it yet, but because it has something to do with Annie Dillard, oh yeah, the only beautiful thing to do is give a like and a restack🥳💜
This is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. My husband, Jim, and I can't wait to meet you at the wedding. Taylor and our son, Daniel, grew up together!
First like!! Congratulations, my friend :) what a beautiful thing!!
Dang. You beat me
Ha! We can share the mantle
Yes, I “liked” this 7 minutes after you posted it because I read it immediately!! 🥹

Many congratulations to y'all. :)
WAIT, Haley, do you know Becca's fiancé?? How do you have some mysterious connection to all of my Nashville circles?

Lost time has no place here! I’m glad we took the long way, glad you guys see the goodness in delayed joy too :)
This brings me such joy!
Truly beautiful.
This is so good!
“I know it is not an arrival, but a shift. The marriage I’m moving toward is not a reward, but it is a gift.”
The wise words of someone grateful for singleness and for marriage. Love you, Becca 🥹
Congratulations, Rebecca! You and your husband-to-be make a beautiful couple!
You absolutely don’t need this, but Samantha and I APPROVE. We’re so excited for y’all!
We absolutely DO need this! Thank you guys! <3
